Ecologists denounce Plans to Build 211 Apartments on Ground Only Suitable For 15

Diario SUR - 2004-07-27

Ecologists have lodged a complaint at the Magistrates Court, to the Provincial Committee for Town Planning and to the Environmental Authorities against Marbella Town Hall for granting the building licence to build 211 apartments on ground that is only suitable for the construction of 15 apartments according to the current PGOU (town planning guidelines).

The building work began a few days ago and is being carried out opposite to the entrance of Hotel Don Miguel of Marbella. They are building based on a licence granted by Julian Muñoz and approved by the current government.

The apartments are a project belonging to property development group “Vera-Promociones Pinar 99” who has begun the construction of the “Residencial Don Miguel” development as well as 150 apartments.

The ecologists deplore the way in which they have gotten rid of the forest in that particular area but the Councillor for the Environment has also done nothing to help protect and preserve this vegetation.

According to the group, North Marbella is suffering a serious crisis and it will only worsen with this residential complex.
