Ecologists have informed the marbella courts plans for a development called "Las Salinas de Bahía Marbella" comprising of thrity-one luxury apartments and private sports centre on a plot of land that qualifies as a green area according to the PGOU (town planning laws) of 1986.
The spokesperson for the group, Javier de Luis, believes the site experienced changes regarding town-planning criteria during a 1998 review carried out by GIL (leading political party in Marbella). Parks and gardens were deemed suitable grounds for building.
The spokesperson for the Ecologists added that in the past few months, all those areas considered to be parks and gardens by the PGOU in 1986 have disappeared and in their place stand three apartment buildings, a petrol station and a shopping centre.
