Residents And Ecologists Demand That Yague Suspends Five Illegal Developments In San Pedro

Diario SUR - 2004-02-25

Town planning in Marbella is still the focal point for the autonomous and local governments and the residents alike. Resident associations from San Pedro Alcántara and Nueva Andalucía gathered for the ecologists´ denunciation against the government for not terminating five property developments in the town centre that do not comply with the 1986 PGOU (town planning laws).

Residents from Alta Vista said that they feel neglected by the authorities with regard to the restoration of legal town planning in the area of El Mirador de Guadalmina. The development there (carried out by PROSAVI PROMOCIONES Y EXPLOTACIONES INMOBILIARES S.L.) includes nine blocks of five apartments (multi-family) and only six single family apartments, all to be built on land only suitable for single families.

Since mid-December, the ecologists have been hoping that the government committee will resolve these cases presented by the Town Planning Disciplinary Committee. Javier de Luis, spokesperson for the ecologists, added that the Andalucian government has also contested these plans based on lack of planning permission.

Other denounced developments include an illegal parcelling of land that is unsuitable for building in the North Alta Vista area and a development of several large industrial buildings in the river meadow of Guadaiza. Those affected are urging the Marbella government to terminate the construction of several illegal buildings in Señorío de Guadalmina next to the Calpe School and those developments
