Town Hall Looks For Solution To Aifos Problem

Diario SUR - 2004-03-02

Members of the governing body of Rincón de la Victoria met yesterday with the property developers from AIFOS in order to solve the issue of AIFOS´ eight illegal real estate developments around the town. This is just on way in which they are trying to put an end to this dispute so that property buyers involved in the eight projects can rest easy.

In this respect the local government, the Mayor and the Town Planning Councillor (Francisco Salado) have all confirmed that even though not all the development projects have building permits, they will find some answer to the problem and their authorisation will be granted as long as the buildings comply with valid, current legislation. To do this, both town leaders have published a report in which they want to send out a positive message to the buyers since in fact the ground on which the properties are built qualifies as land suitable for building by the PGOU. In other words, there is no physical or legal reason why the situation cannot be dealt with.

As it is, the development company reportedly still has not submitted the necessary documentation for planning permission to be authorised; a formality that AIFOS assured them they would deal with straight away in order to solve this problem promptly. With the aim of finalising this issue however, the Town Hall has made it very clear to the buyers that the developers are in the process but that the amount of time it takes to solve these cases varies from one to another.
